BYHI Player Transfer Rule
As a Tier II Member Association of the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), all players interested in playing on a BYHI team during the 2010-2011 season must understand and abide by AHAI’s Two Choice Rule, which states, in part, “Each player playing Tier II Travel Hockey is restricted to two (2) Tier II member associations through the player’s U14 (Bantam) year in youth hockey and the AHAI Board of Directors shall promulgate rules to address the option of an additional choice for U16-U18.”
In addition to AHAI’s Two Choice Rule, those players who left the Bloomington Hockey Program to play for a different organization, but would like to return to Bloomington Youth Hockey, Inc. (BYHI) for the 2010-2011 season, must receive BYHI Board approval prior to participating in tryouts. The parents or legal guardians of players interested in returning to BYHI must petition, in writing, the following to the BYHI Board of Directors:
-
Why the player left the Bloomington hockey program
-
Why the player left the other hockey program
-
Why the player wants to return to the Bloomington hockey program
The written submission should be received by the Board of Directors at least five (5) business days prior to the next scheduled Board meeting to allow Board members sufficient time to review the request and allot time on the agenda to address the request at the meeting. After delivering the written submission, the parents or guardians of the player (if that player is a minor) must appear before the Board to explain the written submission and address any questions the Board may have. The Board will then make a decision on the request. Written submissions can be sent to Jason Backe at
or any other Board member by email or they may be submitted to BYHI at PO Box 3454, Bloomington, Illinois 61702.
Note: Players who have never played for a Bloomington Hockey Program, or players who previously participated in tryouts for a Bloomington Hockey Program, were not selected for a BYHI travel team and played for another organization are not required to petition the Board or appear before the Board. However, the player remains bound by AHAI’s Two Choice Rule, including all rules and conditions set forth by AHAI.
