All USA hockey mandated equipment is required for the tryout, this includes neck guards for all players.

Regular Season Info
Ages
BYH fields teams for Squirt through Midgets. Please reference the birth year chart for appropriate ages/levels.
When
Travel hockey season runs from September through the end of February.
FEES
BYH makes every attempt to keep costs affordable for families. Due to rising costs of just about everything - we have raised fees to better align with our cost structure so we can continue to provide our players and families with the best possible hockey experience. All payments will be handled through crossbar and can be paid in monthly increments.
Financial Assistance
BYH offers a limited number of scholarships to families each year who may not otherwise be able to play hockey due to individual financial circumstance.
Applications are due by October 1.
Practices
Practice days and times vary depending on ice availability. All practices will be held at the Bloomington Ice Center - either the Olson or GMA rinks.
In a typical season teams practice 2-3 times a week. The number and length of practices vary by age group.
Off-Ice Training
BYH partners with the Training and Performance Center (TPC) to provide off-ice training for our 10U-18U players. Sessions are held 1-2 times per week and are included in your season fees.
Leagues and Games
BYH participates in the Central States Development Hockey League (CSDHL)
BYH Teams participating in the CSDHL league average 25-30 games per season with games being played in Illinois and the surrounding states.
Tournaments
Regular season fees include funds to participate in 2 tournaments throughout the season.
Individual teams may decide to attend additional tournaments which would be an added expense.
UNIFORMS
Club jerseys are required and may be purchased through the team store. More information will be sent following tryouts.

Birth Years for 2025-2026 Season:
Squirt 10U: 2015, 2016
Peewee 12U: 2013, 2014
Bantam 14U: 2011, 2012
Midget 16U: 2009, 2010
Midget 18U: 2007, 2008
Step 1 - Make sure your player has a current USA Hockey Registration for 2025-2026 season. A current USA Hockey Registration number is REQUIRED to register with Thunder Hockey.
Step 2 - Register your player with Bloomington Youth Hockey below.
Tryout Fees -
$200 with a $140 credit being applied to your account when you accept a team offer. If your child attends tryouts and does not receive an offer after tryouts you will be refunded this $140.
Register
